African Dance and Percussion
April 16 and 17 at the Biblioteca Pública
FOR A WHOLE DIFFERENT KINDA SAMBA…African move and groove master Samba Diop will bring his Mandinka style workshop to San Miguel, with intensive classes in both percussion and dance. There will be sessions for advanced and beginners in both disciplines, so if one class tires you out, please take a second to remember that Diop, this Senegalese guru of the grind, will be giving FOUR per day.
Be the talk of your set, when you perform from a range of tribal moves. Move your body to the mendiana, the sorsonnet or the dundunba to the rhythm of the sabar or the djembe!
If this choreographer and musician is good enough for Baba Maal and Youssou N´Dour, then he sure gets my vote and may even bring these rickety old knees out of retirement. Look out San Miguel!
To enroll and for details on times and prices, contact Jenny Hoffman on siewlei@web.de or by cell (415) 111 9843
