Latest Government Statement
The Health Minister of Guanajuato, Jorge Armando Aguirre Torres, outlined the current situation in Guanajuato. He emphasized that there are as yet no confirmed cases of Influenza Porcina in the state, although he underlined a state of alert. There have been no deaths related to this virus up to now. From April 23rd to 29th, ninety-nine suspected cases were reported. Of those, 94 have been discarded, and those five remaining are currently undergoing further tests.
The following precautionary measures will be in effect from today Wednesday, April 29th:Precautionary Measures
- Schools from primary to high school level are closed, as are nurseries, pre-schools, and day care centers.
- Large events will not take place, including religious processions and services, sports events, cultural and political gatherings.
- The closure of bars, clubs, and discotheques.
- The suspension of jail visits.
- The suggested/obligatory use of antiseptic gel cleansers before entering any shopping centers, markets, auto repair centers…
- Those showing any symptoms such as cough, runny nose, muscular pain, nasal congestion should not travel on public transport.
- Hotels should contact the Health Ministry should there be any guests showing the aforementioned symptoms, as well as high fever, low energy levels, runny nose, headache, and cough.
