The Centro de Crecimiento is pleased to announce an extra-ordinary visit to three private homes on Saturday, March 6th, where larger scale works by Ana Thiel are featured. The meeting place will be in the Jardín in front of the Parroquia, at 4pm. From Thursday, March 18th through Thursday, March 25th check out The Art of Constructed Photography, a Photography Workshop by Daniela Edburg, presented by Art Print Photo Gallery (San Francisco #11, Centro). This course will help you develop you creativity into a whole new direction by learning how to involved yourself with behind the scenes production and allowing you to generate your own creative imagery. A night of seductive mayhem.  The Castillo on Santo Domingo 71, in Colonia Atascadero will be the seductive backdrop as  a collaborative evening of visuals, performances, tapas and poetry awaits.  Featuring the electro-cumbia sounds of DJ Guaguis Afrodyke, DJ Chra spinning minimal techno and DJ Shakti plays progressive beats.   The action starts at 9 pm and goes on into the wee hours of the morning.  Tickets on sale at Panaderia Casanova on Margarito Ledezma and cost a mere $50 pesitos.

Galeria Izamal is a cooperative and is one of the oldest and most solid art galleries of San Miguel.  One of the secrets of its continued vitality is new blood.  And, on Saturday, February 6, Galeria Izamal will showcase two new members:  painter Mike Kleimo and jeweler Patricia de Leon. On February 6th, from 5-8 PM, enjoy a walk including fine paintings, exotic paintings, exotic jewelry and fine jewelry: plus fine (and exotic) food sometimes for free — at the Mesones Area Art Walk.

The lower Mesones area is changing and growing in terms of art venues.  Three new art galleries and two different restaurants are on this month’s art walk. Each gallery will have a variety of refreshments for visitors; the atmosphere as always is relaxed and festive.

The show opens with a cocktail reception with the artist Saturday, February 6, starting at 5PM in Galeria/Atelier in the Fabrica La Aurora. It truly takes an artist to confront one with the intricacy of our inner workings. Walking the room of Dahlke’s exhibit it is as if the artist self-dissects himself for all to see. First, we see the diligent, studied, figurative work of the disciplined student of art. There are perfect lines and clear color palates and proportion and perspective. There is a controlled passion felt in this work and there is a break from pure representational painting with the ever slightest surrealist element in the image, only noticeable upon closest inspection.
