“As I See Things,” the photography of Alexis White, opens with a public reception on Sunday, October 2nd, from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at the Bordello Galeria (in Casa de la Noche) at Organos 19. From brilliant blooms to muted icons of San Miguel to her take on the sculpture of Sergio Bustamante, Alexis presents a unique perspective on looking at things. There is no admission charge for the show and reception. Ten percent of the proceeds from the sale of the work will be donated to Casita Linda, the nonprofit organization that builds home for families living in extreme poverty in San Miguel.
The show continues by appointment only (contact Alexis at TheMexicanStudio@gmail.com) through Thursday, October 13th, and closes on Friday, the 14th, with another public reception from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

Galeria Izamal is hosting the small-format photography of guest artist Cecilia Gomez de la Pena in a show through the month of June. A gala reception for the artist and the public will be held from 6 to 8pm on Saturday, June 25 at the co-op gallery at Mesones 80, Centro.Cecilia Gomez’ work is intimate in size, elegant, and beautiful. Some of her photos are abstract; some are close-ups of cactus, fruit, or flowers. The photos are presented in the form of small triptychs, with each photo related to the others in both colors and subject. Work by Izamal artists and jewelers Patricia de Leon, Juan Ezcurdia, Javier Garcia, David Godinez, Henry Vermillion, and Britt Zaist can also be seen at the opening and every day from 11am to 3pm, and from 4pm to 8pm.
Britt Zaist creates rick, colorful abstractions. She teaches the process in a hands-on, two-day workshop using ink, acrylic, watercolor and collage techniques.
